VIDEO: Tiger and Dog Are Best Friends

There are many examples of cats and dogs getting along in one household without animosity. Although both species have different histories and lineage – and possess different perspectives – cats and dogs share similarity in certain areas such as grooming and sniffing and can learn about each other through observation. They can cohabitate in harmony when compatibility issues are resolved quickly and when the two pets start off on the right foot at a young age – or, in this case, right paw. In fact, a first-of-its-kind scientific research from Tel Aviv University, Israel, indicated a friendly relationship between cats and dogs under the same roof in two-thirds of the homes the researchers had surveyed.

Think a dog and cat getting all amiable and mushy over each other is ordinary? Well, how about a dog and a tiger? Or, if you may want to put it, an overgrown 300-kilo kitty equipped with exceptionally strong teeth, muscular body, and a predatory instinct to feed on deer, wild boar, and other medium to large sized animals.

Categorically speaking, a domestic dog should in theory be a menu item for a wild tiger. For this reason it seems outrageous – and yet, this unlikely pair are clearly the best of friends. The Jack Russell Terrier of the Fernandez family is a surrogate mother to the motherless Bengal tiger adopted by the family and so bonded in a special way. This dog has therefore broken down the interspecies wall between him and Panjo, which is the tiger’s name. The dog playfully wrestles and frolics with the tiger as if it were just another dog. And then to see the tiger run off while the dog chases after it? Well, that’s quite extraordinary. According to the owner, the dog considers himself as both the parent and the best friend of Panjo. Certainly, this dog has some bold taste when it comes to choosing a best friend – and loads of guts to boot! I hope the tiger doesn’t get too hungry one day – but the owner clearly doesn’t think it a possibility.

Looking for the ideal dog? If being energetic, well mannered, long-coated, and charming is a criterion, one certain breed can rank high on the list: the best friend of all, the Golden Retriever. Golden retrievers are medium- to large-sized dogs very well known for sporting water-resistant, light golden or dark golden coats that are slightly wavy. In the old days, they were bred originally as companions / working dogs for hunting and shooting parties. Because of such purpose, “the goldens,” as they are occasionally nicknamed, were developed with a “soft mouth” to retrieve (hence their name) shot waterfowl and game birds undamaged – and with an inborn affinity for the water.

What’s more alluring about these dogs is that they can be easily trained to learn several obedience commands. They are fond of pleasing their masters, plus have a gentle and sociable temperament worthy of mention for a family dog. Rare it is to find a golden retriever who can resist fetching a stick for their owners. Being highly trainable, versatile, and intelligent, the golden often brings home the gold in every competition and conformation show it participates in. Golden retrievers are definitely worth their weight in gold, especially for their owners.

All thanks to Lord Tweedmouth, the dog breeder credited for creating the popular breed, the world enjoys the blessings, pleasure, and benefits one can derive from these trustworthy household companions. Here’s a video by chinze that would somehow explain why golden retrievers have gained so much fame and recognition in the United States:

This is Cooper, an adorable golden retriever puppy that preferred sleeping on the stairs rather than on his bed. He must have thought the stairs are more comfortable than his bed. Well, the big dogs living in the same roof with him think so… But seeing this sleepyhead just try melts anyone’s heart. Even the housekeeper couldn’t help herself from reveling in what she’s witnessing. Enjoy!

VIDEO: The Famous Pug Head Tilt

Remember the dog Frank in the film Men In Black – and his furrowed flat face and bulging eyes, not to mention a big mouth that couldn’t be kept shut? He belongs to that stocky, happy-go-lucky dog breed that has waddled their way to popularity all over the world – the Pug. They were first petted by Tibetan Buddhist monks and were imported from China into Europe in the 16th century, but now are the chosen breed of even world-famous personalities, including Billy Joel, Paris Hilton, and Paula Abdul.

Pugs are small, thick-set dogs with a square-shaped, seemingly comical muzzle and large, prominent eyes. Pugs have so many distinctive features one couldn’t possibly mistake them for another breed. As if they were aware of their centuries-old history and noble lineage, pugs manifest big, strong-willed personalities despite their size. Their deeply wrinkled faces beam high spirits, and they are always on the mood for play and live action. In fact, they can become bored easily when there’s no variety in training.

Keeping a pug in the house is generally considered to be relatively easy. They require daily walks with their owners and some energetic activities to maintain their optimum heath.

We discovered a ridiculously cute example of why pugs are adored by their owners: In this video by The “Pug Head Tilt” Pugs!, three pugs – namely, Mabel, Minnie, and Max – give us a dose of how cuteness should truly be defined. These floppy ears tilt their heads as a response to the rising-pitch voice of their owner. Pugs tilt their heads to adjust their outer ears. This enables them to hear things more clearly and to focus on the sound location. Three heads are indeed better than one, as these pugs can undeniably get anyone’s attention with that entire almost-in-unison head-tilting act. If you are looking for a dog overloaded with charm, enthusiasm, and wits, a pug may be the right breed for you!
