This video features Diesel, a Dalmatian who just found a new friend; a kitten. Diesel is known to play with kittens the same way he plays with puppies and other small animals. The two just looks so adorable in the video!
Dalmatians are one of the breeds that live well with cats. If you are a cat owner but you’re thinking about getting a new pup, consider the following breeds: Pomeranians, Chihuahuas, Spaniels, Beagles, Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers. These breeds are more likely to be laid back and relaxed when there are other animals around.
The dog breeds for cat owners to avoid are the following:
1. Hunting breeds – These are dogs were originally bred to hunt vermin or small prey. Scottish Deerhound, Samoyed, Alaskan Malamute, Norwegian Elkhound and Siberian Husky are the most popular domesticated hunting breeds but it is still in their innate nature to hunt.
2. Fighting breeds – Bulldogs were originally trained as fighting dogs. They may have a sweet personality and their carefree attitude might let you think that they are harmless to cats but they’ll treat cats as sparring partners if given the chance.
3. Terriers – They were bred to dig underground and eliminate animals like moles, rabbits, groundhogs and badgers.
4. Hounds – They were bred to track raccoons, foxes, coyotes and other predators. Cats could easily be mistaken for prey rather than a family member. If you don’t want a war happening in your house on a daily basis, it is best to avoid this breed.
Remember to supervise the cat and dog’s first meeting regardless of their breed. Also, keep in mind that each dog is an individual and its temperament is a mix of genetics, training and environment. Introducing it to the other animals in your household will always require caution.
