Can dogs talk? Watch this video and be amazed! My most favourite part is when a Siberian Husky seemingly mimicking its owner saying the word “Hello” and the dog almost perfectly nailed it. You can actually make out the word when the dog utters the sound. Such a cutie!
Another good one is when a pit bull which was almost successful in uttering the word “Mama”. One can’t help but laugh at the dog’s very low tone and the way it opens its mouth. The last clips featured dogs who fondly responded to their owner when they were told “I love you”. They showed much love in responding to the phrase. I’d sure like to hear my dogs tell me they love me. It’s every dog owner’s dream!
But can dogs REALLY talk? The scientific answer is sadly no. It’s more appropriate to call it imitating than talking. Dogs vocalize with each other to convey emotions and they express their emotions by varying their tones. Dogs are able to imitate humans because they can pick up on the differences in our tonal patterns.
Basically it goes like this: The owner hears the dog making a sound that resembles a phrase, says the phrase back to the dog, who then repeats the sound and is rewarded with a treat or a belly rub. Eventually the dog learns a modified version of the original sound making it seem that it knows how to speak.
